We’ve buried our heads in the sand now for way too long
So when things get bad we can’t just look around and see what we’ve done
We’ve fell in with some bad people time and again who lied and told us we’d be fine
But now it’s time I took a stand for what I believe in and admit to all the guilt that is mine
‘Cos we’ve broken our England
The likes of which has been seen before
But we didn’t learn, ‘cos we weren’t there
We’ve never been bothered enough to care
And I’ll admit, that I’m afraid
We’ve lost our way
Well I’m blinking in the light of a million mislead, selfish souls
Who believed all the hype of the television waxworks and their so-called common goals
What happened to the love we had for our friends, for our people and our cause?
‘Cos as soon as the chips are down we’re all stealing from our neighbours
‘Cos we’ve broken our England
The likes of which has been seen before
But we didn’t learn, ‘cos we weren’t there
We’ve never been bothered enough to care
And I’ll admit, that I’m afraid
We’ve lost our way
So don’t believe a word that the enemy would tell you
Those circling birds don’t deserve the land that we were born to
They’ll see the green pastures we worked so hard to grow and they will try to land
But in the centre of our field we’ll stand tall like scarecrows hand in hand
