My Politics

 

I've read theory

But I'm no scholar

I get my politics

From the actions of others

When we feed the poor

 When we house the homeless

When we fight oppression

When we build communities 

Yeah that's what my politics mean to me 

This guitar isn't loud

But its message is deafening

Its power immense

Its commitment unending

This guitar is my tool

And I choose to use it

To speak truth to power

To fight for improvement

To remind that society

Didn't just go away

To fight for tomorrow

Just as much as today

But its not just the fighting

For fightings sake

It's the peace that comes after

It's the give more than take

It's When we feed the poor

It's When we house the homeless

It's When we fight oppression

It's When we build communities 

Yeah that's what my politics mean to me

It's about more than labels

More than factions and pacts

It's about looking forward 

Instead of looking back 

It's about ending suffering 

By ending some greed

About levelling a playing field

It's about being free

It's about all humanity

About right vs wrong

It's about lifting people

It's about protest songs

It's about common decency

What I see as fair

It's less about arguing

More showing you care
