Idioms
'Money makes the world go round'
Except it doesn't really
The world spins fine all on its own
Without the need for money
To place inflated importance
On money should be a choice
You choose to prize it above all else
I choose to use my voice
To tell you that I think you're wrong
To measure a person's worth
By what's in their bank account
Not their presence upon this Earth
But 'Money can buy happiness'
You cry out in dismay
It makes life so much easier
It takes your worries away
But that which you call happiness
Is just security
That you need money for this basic human right
Is a stain on capitalist society
And I think you're wrong
To measure by currency
That which gives a life to all
And defines what we call happy
(Instrumental)
It's the root of all evil
Is one you joke about
But if it were any other evil
You'd have given it up by now
And it doesn't grow on trees
I'll admit that that one's right
'Cos our money's made of plastic now
And the trees are all dying
And I think you're wrong
To burn our ecology
In pursuit of a few more bits
Of a made up commodity
And I think you're wrong
If you walk upon this Earth
And you can fundamentally
Misjudge a person's worth
And I think you're wrong.
